Hi Book Babies,

The Obsession Between Us releases at the end of this month… how did that happen!?

I swear I blinked and suddenly we’re here.

When I say I’m excited for you to meet Emily and Eli, that’s honestly an understatement. I lurrrrrvvv them, and I cannot wait for you to finally get inside their heads.

So let’s dive into this month’s newsletter…

And yes—you will be getting another one later this month on release day 👀

I am officially ahead of schedule on Let Me Go, which is fantabulous news.

We’re currently sitting at around 60,000 words, and this story is still taking turns I did not see coming. Every time I think I’ve got a handle on it, it decides to spiral in a completely different direction.

Also… I’m definitely not ready to leave this world.

So at this point, a second book is 100% happening.

Now, I’ve also introduced a security company into the plot.

You might be thinking, “Okay? And?”

To which I say: excellent question. I don’t even fully know the plot myself.

Anyway—

This has led to the creation of Dion (Caleb’s friend and the owner of said security company).

And listen.

Dion is hot.

I haven’t actually described a single physical characteristic about this man yet, but in my head? He is unreasonably attractive. And when I do finally write him properly, that man is going to be smoking.

Which leads me to a slight problem.

Because now I’m sitting here thinking… does he become an MMC?

I did briefly consider adding him to the polycule, but I’m not entirely convinced that’s his role.

Instead, I’m starting to think…

He might need his own book.

Maybe even a series of standalones set within this security company world?

I don’t know. All I do know is that I love hurt/comfort vibes, and this has so much potential.

So, naturally, I’ve created another problem for myself.

My street team received their copies of The Obsession Between Us at the beginning of this month. Here are some of their early reactions from Goodreads:

I am absolutely in love with this story! Olivia is the best and I love how she writes.
Emily and Eli are end game and I love how they trust each other🥰🙈

what a way to wrap this series up. So much raw emotions, hidden vulnerabilities and that twist ending 🙌 was so good.

When I say that I loooovveeeeee this book... I truly mean it❤️‍🔥💖💕 like how can I not? I love Eli and Emily🫶🏻 perfect couple I'm so happy I got to read this before it comes out, I feel special🥰 AMAZING job Olivia😘

Plus, some quotes my street team loved:

"Why did I choose the most boring woman on earth to stalk? Did I strangle a nun in a past life?"

"She doesn’t know it yet, but I’m the only one who’ll ever love her like this. Completely. Obsessively. Forever."

“Doctor Emily Morgan. You might just be my newest obsession”

“She’s a mess. A beautiful, curvy, delicious mess. All belly and thighs and soft, tan skin that I want to worship. I want to map her with my tongue. I want to teach her what her own body is capable of.”

The rest of my ARC team receive their copies tomorrow—if that’s you, then I hope you’re ready for a beautiful descent into darkness and wildly unprofessional thoughts.

If you still need to catch up on any of the previous Murderously Romantic books, you can find them all here:

How I Accidentally Create More Books Than Planned

Take The Colour of Revenge—two serial killers fall in love. Simple. Clean. Done. Dusted.

WRONG.

Enter Tess. She had a five-second appearance right at the end of the book, and I immediately knew she needed her own story. And who better to be the unwilling victim of her love than Kai?

Interestingly, he wasn’t even that grumpy to begin with. But once I started writing The Chaos She Brings, I had to go back and rework his entire personality because Tess needed her grump.

And then, of course, Enzo needed his story told.

So he gets his own book.

Naturally.

As for Emily? That became clear the more roles I gave her across the series—especially once I really ramped up her involvement in Carina’s life. She started as an afterthought… and then she developed an actual personality.

Which, obviously, meant:

BAM. Another book.

And now we have Dion.

You saw what I said earlier. I don’t even fully know what his story is yet, but I know there’s something there.

Which means I have, once again, accidentally created more work for myself.

And then… there are my 2am thoughts

You know, the ones where your brain decides to throw out completely unhinged book ideas that you absolutely will write one day (probably):

A draft titled: Enemies to lovers
The only words inside:
“What the fuck?”

A little plot jotting:

Girl is kidnapped by three men to get ransom from her boyfriend.

She’s very attracted to one of the kidnappers but doesn’t act on it.

Boyfriend refuses to pay.

Kidnappers don’t let her go… because one of them falls for her.

She falls for him.

The other two watch… and then join in.

Okay. Girl. Get it.

Another very basic plot:

Women are owned by men as property.

One man—or group of men—don’t agree with it.

A girl is sold to them.

She refuses to submit.

They like that.

They take down the government together?

And then… whatever the hell this is:

“I’m not crazy.
I know what people call me, but it’s not true.
Aliens are real. And I will prove it.
I know they’re real… because I’m pretty sure I am one.”

I have no idea when I’m writing any of these.

But I will.

Because apparently, I’m incapable of having just one idea at a time.

I’ve had an insanely good reading month, so I’ve forced myself to pick just three reads for this issue…

But I’m warning you now—more from this month will be making appearances in future newsletters, because whatever is in these books lately?

It’s actual crack.

Institute Thirteen — KC Kean

I don’t often dabble in fantasy worlds anymore, BUT—as established last month—I am firmly in my why choose era, so here we are.

Now, the romance in this is a slow burn, while the smut starts very early. Normally, that’s not really my thing… but apparently I have no standards because I was absolutely eating this up.

It’s also an academy romance, and I tend to prefer slightly older characters. Once again? Did not care.

I actually really enjoyed this series. If you’re into dark fantasy reverse harem with tension, spice, and a FMC with heaps of trauma, I’d definitely recommend it

How (Not) To Raise The Dead — Rachael Chadwick

The humour in this??? Chef’s kiss. Absolute perfection. Zero notes.

I love a dark rom-com, and this delivered in every possible way. Funny, unhinged, and just the right amount of spice.

Also… I would like to formally request a demon like Malachai.

At one point, I genuinely caught myself hoping one would appear in the middle of the night. Now, I live alone—so picture me, half-asleep, wandering to the bathroom and mumbling:

“I wouldn’t mind if I summoned a demon…”

And then immediately panicking and adding:

“...a hot one though, obviously.”

No further comments. Highly recommend.

Saving Ella — Kayla Kyng

I had to include a live reaction to this book because I was not okay:

I’m currently halfway through this book, and it is 12:30am as I’m writing this… so you’re getting my live, sleep-deprived reaction.

And right now?

AHHHHHHH.
FUCK NO.
NO NO NO.
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
WHAT IN THE FRIGGITY FRAGGITY FUCK NUGGETS IS HAPPENING.

I am unwell. I am stressed. I need to go to sleep immediately before this book takes me out completely.

I will be finishing this tomorrow and coming back to update this with actual thoughts… once I’ve recovered slightly.

Update (post-finish, slightly more stable):

This book destroyed me.

You know those books that break you and then slowly put you back together again?
Yeah… this wasn’t one of those.

It just broke me.

In the best way.

It took me 12 hours to read, and as you can probably tell from my live reaction above, I did not cope well. At all.

I am now slightly more stable and beginning the long, painful process of forgiving this book for what it put me through.

Would I go through it again?

Absolutely.

“You’re better than my imagination.” My gaze snaps to hers, and fresh tears roll down her cheeks. “You make me feel things I didn’t even know I could. You brought me to life when I thought I’d died.”

P.S. If you’re curious about the other books that have had me in a chokehold, check out my Fable here:
